In a significant move towards bolstering community safety and empowering local policing initiatives, KwaZulu-Natal Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube on Tuesday (7 November 2023) handed over 95 vehicles and 2000 uniforms to Community Policing Forums (CPFs.) The initiative aimed at enhancing the effectiveness and reach of community-led safety measures, signifies a vital step in supporting grassroots security efforts.Dube-Ncube said the uniforms would assist the community policing forums to be visible when doing their work and the vehicles would assist them to be mobile in their fight against crime. Police Launch Manhunt for CIT Robbers Umlazi

KwaZulu-Natal Police say they have launched a manhunt for suspects who blew up a cash-in-transit van in Umlazi on Monday night. Police spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda says they are searching for an unknown number of suspects in connection with the CIT heist. The suspects will be facing murder and attempted murder charges. “Information has revealed that the cash-in-transit armoured vehicle had just collected money from a grocery chain store and was driving on the Umbongitwini Bridge on the M35 pas, Philani Valley, in Umlazi when it reportedly came under attack from heavily armed suspects,” Netshiunda said.
